How much does a snow removal service charge usually for a driveway? We had one service plow our driveway and they invoiced us for 160 dollars. Does that seem steep or is that an average price? Our driveway isn't very wide or long.

We had a couple guys stop by to ask if we need help with plowing and they were quoting around $50 - $60 for a two car driveway and small sidewalk.

It may differ depending on the depth of snow.

A joke as in too low? It would take what, a half an hour to do it? That's $100/hour.

I'd believe $160 though too. I've heard individuals with a plow can make a couple hundred grand with one snowstorm.

yeah, it is too low for anyone who wants to make money unless maybe you are driving some old beater with no insurance. this is not to say I couldnt buy an old 1991 Chevy 1500 and a crappy plow, and do myneighbors driveway for 50 bucks. of courseI wouldn't charge my neighbors. if you had a parking lot or residential contract maybe you'll do better.

there is a lot more to plowing than 30 minutes. a good plow costs 3-5k. 30 minutes of driving back and forth destroys your transmission and probably burns 1 gallon of fuel per hour or more. you need commercial plates, commercial insurance, liability insurance, etc. 200K in 1 snowstorm?????????? Do you mean a couple grand or a couple hundred grand?

If you do driveways at $150 a pop, maybe 20 a day and 6 days a year thats 18k. if you can do 15 hours a day * 2 houses, 30 houses * 150$ then 27k gross. That is GROSS now start subtracting your costs. Truck payment, fuel, insurance, plow, repairs..... just saying. these guys have to make a living.

Hey I think you could do it. If I bought a 12k truck, 4k plow I could probably pay it off in 1 year working very hard. If I had known it was going to snow this much this yearI would have tried for it. But the other thing is you have to either have no job, or a very flexible job to work 15-20 hour days whenever it snows a lot. Either that or plow all night... which you often can't get away with doing residential driveways in the middle of the night.

I thought I was being conservative at 30 minutes. For one driveway? You can probably do it in 10.

I'm pretty sure most people that just put a plow on the front of their truck don't have commerical plates, insurance, etc.

Yes, 200K. But yeah that's probably more with parking lots and such but that's also more work than driveways.

Edit: Just did a quick search on craigslist. There were two separate postings for a truck AND plow, one for $2500 and one for $4000. Yeah the trucks were old and crappy but that's less than you were just talking about for the plow. And there was an ad for clearing driveways for $25-$40, so yes $50 sounds reasonable.

Whatever people are willing to work for I guess. If you come in, drop the blade, run 2 passes and leave then maybe $50 is more like it. I saw one that said "$30-60 per driveway" but "WE ASSUME NO LIABILITY" .

Really depends on the size of your driveway and the depth of the snow. We have an agreement with a guy that comes by to plow our driveway every snow fall. We have a 2+ car wide driveway that extends about 45 feet from the garage and a horseshoe at the front of the house so it is a lot of asphalt. 6" will cost us about 60. When we had 20" he charged us 200 which i think was fair. When we had 20" he had to come by at least 3 times throughout the storm. He also clears our cars and driveway and will also clear out the area for my garbage/recycling cans. This guy does a ton of homes in my neighborhood and is probably making a killing this season.
