My husband and I looked at house for sale today in Woodland Park. We loved the house. We are in our early thirties and are going to be starting a family soon. Any information on the town in general, schools, and community would be GREATLY appreciated!

Sorry, can't help with schools, but I lived there for 9 years (when it was West Paterson, moved in 1996.) I really liked the town. Also have relatives who have lived there forever. (My niece graduated from their school system and did all right but I don't know details about ratings, etc.)

On the negative side, most of the town is on the side of Garret Mountain, so the hills in the winter can be a problem--the positive side of that is that the town is pretty quick to get out plows and salt and take care of the roads in a snowstorm BECAUSE the town is on the hill.

Another positive is great parks--you have Rifle Camp Park (county) and a few smaller town parks.

Also, the police seem to be pretty much on the watch for invaders from neighboring Paterson who may be looking to burglarize, etc., in the adjoining suburban towns.

Everything is close, shopping-wise, transportation-wise.

And great sunsets.
