Moving back East (to rent, neighborhood, buy)

Why are you moving? Want to be closer to family in Philly but don't want to move to Philly
Where will you be working ? If NYC, what part of NYC? Not sure yet. We are moving in a few years once our son graduates HS. We want to get a head start on where we want to be so we can visit and imagine...

Will you buy or rent? Rent at first then eventually buy
What is your budget ? rent = 1500 or less.... buy = 300K
What kind of place are you looking for ? like to rent a house...looking for a countryside town.

Will anyone (spouse, children, pets) be moving with you ? yes, hubby and daughter (5 years at the time of move)
Do you need/want good public schools? yes

Briefly describe the kind of neighborhood you'd like to live in
(examples: families with young children, young, mature, artsy, diverse, safe, close-knit, block parties, etc)
we would love to live in a little town where we can be close enough to NYC but not necessarily to commute. My husband is a massage therapist and I am a life coach. We want to eventually open our own practice together so we want a town where our business could thrive. Art is very important to us as well as diversity and safety.
