We are in the market to buy a house in East Brunswick and we would like to know where the Low Income Housing Rental units are located? We heard there is one complex called Victory Gardens, but I can't find the location.
We are concern about the location of Low Income Housing, because we just sold the house we owned for 9 years (in another town) and it was close to a low income housing building... needless to say it lower the value of our house dramatically, even though it was a very nice house and nothing bad ever happen to us or our neighbor while we lived there. We never tought it was a big deal, put apparently must buyers do.
Here is the link to EB's website which names each complex where affordable housing in located. Please note that it is not each complex as a whole...the township buys a certain percentage of some developments to be devoted to affordable housing.
just make sure you really check out the place before committing to anything. there is one complex in east brunswick that states that it has a pool, basketball courts and a common area and it has none of that!!!! the rents are ridiculously high, it is incredible and then they try to get you by putting things that they don't even have-what a shame. some of these complexes treat renters different from owners. we are all the same. what is the big deal? the rent gets paid every month just like they pay their mortgage every month. it's terrible.
