I think this is great news. The NFL should have had the game in cold weather cities from the beginning, but 47 years after the fact is better than nothing at all!
They're holding the Super Bowl in New York, huh? I didn't the new Yankees or Mets stadiums were set up for football, but I guess I was wrong, since the article clearly said numerous times that the game would be in New York.......
As long as New Jersey gets a fair share of the revenue that the Super Bowl generates, I'm all for it. Something tells me that is not going to happen though.
NJ will end up footing the bill for police presence & such, while NYC hotels, restaurants & shops will be packed to the gill.

To top it off, we'll be paralyzed by all the traffic on 95, 1-9, and parts of GSP. I am definitely staying away from that section during the week leading up to the Super Bowl. I hope there is a blizzard on game day. LOL.

exactly what pissed me off. ESPN.com at least had NJ in their writeup.

I hope in the next 4 years, running up to the game, the area around Giants Stadium facilitates some of the visitors by making the area appealing for perspective diners and shoppers. Whatever the case, I think it's a great day to be a New Jerseyan. The NY metro is finally getting a Super Bowl. I never thought I would live that long!

You people are ridiculous. The bid came from New York, not New Jersey. The bid is about all of the amenities, all of the pomp and circumstances. It's much more about the city where the festivities will be than it is about the stadium. The stadium is in NJ because it's cost effective.
NJ is what it is and has the economy that it does completely due to it's proximity to NY. People can live there or set up a business there (or a football stadium) and still enjoy everything about NY and work in NY. If not for NYC, all of NJ would be like, well, Western NJ where nobody is considering holding a major sporting event. Everyone knows that the stadium is in NJ, and everyone knows that all of the cool things around the game will be in NYC.
It's the NY Metro area. Plenty of stadiums aren't directly within the city limits of the team name. But those people don't have inferiority complexes the way so many people from NJ do about NY.
