To be a science, math, or technology teacher, which are basically half of all of your high school and middle school teachers, you MUST have a degree in your field. Every science teacher needs at a minimum a BS in their field. At my school there are 26 teachers and 15 of us have bachelors of science. Of those 15 another 10 have masters or doctorates in our fields and not paid for by the district.

So maybe a majority of the k-5 set have liberal art degrees but that is surely not true for the rest of us.
