I am preparing to move to the Maplewood area. I am looking at towns such as Maplewood, South Orange, Milburn, and Montclair. I am a single parent with a child who will be in 3rd grade next year. I will be commuting to Manhattan for my job and am looking for help on the before and after school care options and costs (if available). I have been doing research on each town and the schools looking for this informaton, but have not been very successful.

Can anyone offer feedback or guidance on the best town to focus on based on my daily commute (I intend to take the train to Penn Station) and my need for before and after school care.

Thanks for any help you can provide.

The towns you named are generally nice. South Orange train station is embedded in a nice village-area. Seton Hall isn't far away. Maplewood is cool as long as you stay away from the areas that border Irvington. I don't know too much about Montclair even though I like the downtown...
