Hello everyone.

I've read the posts about Newark, where to live and so on. It seems this town is getting better and that's nice to hear and apparently the town is gonna be a secure investment than Jersey City.

The point is I haven't found my answer and also my problem is different.

This is my situation :

I'm going to work at Newark Airport for a work placement. I'll be over there for 1 year from July.

I'm looking for a nice place, safe and not boring. I mean with activites all around even if I have to walk 5-10 minutes to get it : like bars to have a drink after the work, restaurant, gym. A nice place to feel well.

That will be my first time in USA. I can pay until 470 per month, maybe 500 but the place has to be really nice !!!

During this placement I'm gonna have schedules tough like starting at 4:30 am or finishing late.

So I don't want to be far from the airport (so not far Newark pennstation?) and NYC too. Newark's area is about 30mns from NYC, it's all right I think.

I know a trainee who is doing this placement right now and he lives at North Irounbond. He could let me the flat when I arrive. What do you think about this place? North or South Irounbound ?

They also advised me : Harrisson, next to the NJIT or Seton Hall too (but apparently around Seton Hall isn't safe). Any comments?

Harrisson looks all right actually.

If you know someother city, place to live, let me know.

Jersey city seems far from the Airport but if you know lovely place, I can have a look.

Hopefully you will be able to help me.

Look for a Rental or Apartment somewhere in the Ironbound, there should be enough for your price to choose form. The Ironbound is a walkable neighborhood , most parts except the Southern Section are close enough to the Airport. As for a gym , there's a new one located on Hwy 21 in Downtown , but there are a few others i believe in the Ironbound. As for walking , yes there are alot of places , you can take a 10 min Light Rail trip form Newark Penn to Branch Brook Park or a Walk around the block. North Ironbound seems better then south Ironbound , you might be better off with him for while , in-till you get settle in US more.

Thanks for answering.

After several researches, I am hesitating between Harisson and Ironbound Newark. The only difference to me is the dynamism. Do you think this town is all right ? If someone from Harisson could aswer, that would be great.

Can you meet people easily and so on. This city seems very quite.

In any case I won't be often at home because of my job but at least a minimum.

Harrison might be more Expensive , yes its very quiet. But the Ironbound is a bridge away , People are very friendly in Jersey , so making friends isn't hard. Good luck working at EWR , i heard it can be quiet stressful just like all NYC metro airports

Yeah thank you. I can't wait actually.

All right then. I have a good place next to Ferry Street in the Irounbound. That looks all right.
