Anywhere to buy these around here and approx how much are they a dozen? Seen on tv last night they're going for $8/dozen in Cali.

Most, if not all, supermarkets sell free range eggs. The price depends on where you buy (Whole Foods will be more expensive than Shop Rite) and whether they are organic or not. In any case, I have never seen eggs $8/doz. Usually the price will be somewhere between $3-4 a dozen.

You're not confusing cage-free with free range are you?

You could just get a couple of hens
I don't know of anywhere in Union county but know of 2 places within 2 miles of me here in Bergen.

I remember about 8 years or so a friend and i went to a place in Scotch Plains near or off of Martine Rd or Terrell Rd, it was a house with a small farm out back you would take your dozen out of a old refrig on the front porch and leave your money in a small drop box with a slot, not sure if they were what you are looking for but i found it unique with the honor system and all, oh and repeat customers would bring back the empty cartons to.
I will ask a co-worker from Rahway if he knows about the place.

I thought it was the same thing. What's the difference between the two?

i would be careful about the legal definition of these 2. i don't know the legal difference but i believe that cage free means that they have "access to the outdoors" not that they necessarily use that outdoor space ever.
free range might infer they are pecking worms and bugs around an open yard.
