I have been meaning to ask this ever since I moved to this state. Nobody I know lives or has ever lived anywhere where there is two garbage days. My first week of living here I was caught off guard because the day I moved in was garbage day, then a few days later I saw everyone putting their garbage out again so I put mine out to and was shocked to see the garbage men again. I guess it is the norm around here because nobody, including my landlord, told me about it. Is Bayonne unique or is it all of NJ? What about NYC, do they have two also?

Here in Vineland (also South Jersey) we have two days, but they're currently talking about getting rid of one to save money. Mind you, surrounding areas mostly have one, and some even have none.

Wow, no garbage service. I guess you live in a rural area?

I lived the first 26 years of my life with one and did just fine, but now that I have had 1 year with two I don't think I could ever go back to just one.

Yes very rural area...but other sections of my town have it...if you want to pay for it (private contractor picks it up). My area is one home per 8 acres so those private contractors don't want to get involve going out that far just for a few dozen homes spread out. I'm better off this way..I don't pay..plus those that do pay always complain they never show up sometimes.

I have Mon/Thurs garbage pickup. Wednesday is recycling day. But I live in a very small town. I used to live in a large, sprawling suburban township and there I only had one-day pickup.

I think a lot of towns are moving to robotrucks that pick up 55gal garbage cabs, so they figure they can get away with one-day pickup. Off the top of my head, the two largest towns in my county (Toms River, Brick) have had robotrucks for years.

When I lived on Long Island it was always 2 garbage days and 1 recycling day. Still 2 here in Weehawken.
