I 76 ranked #2

I 80 ranked # 20
I 78 ranked # 30

among those were Florida, California and so on. The states with the most people on the roads.

Looks like most of that is just volume based, and most of I-76 is in Pennsy with I think only a few miles in NJ.

Was this survey only interstates? Do you have a link?

Either way, most of 95 in NJ is the Turnpike so I could believe that. Does 76 even hit NJ at all? If so where?

78 and 80 go through both congested and desolate areas, so I could believe they get crazy as you get closer to NYC, as all roads do.

California roads are MUCH BETTER than NJ roads.

The roads are bad in NJ just outside Manhattan, in Bergen and Hudson Counties, but it's bad in that it is confusing with lack of clear signage and things like that. It's very easy to get lost in that area.

Oh wait yes 76 is the Walt Whitman Bridge into Gloucester City. But it doesn't end much further into the state than that. Probably less than a mile. Now I remember the jct 76/676 signs around the 295/42 merge around there.

i didn't realize 95 WAS the turnpike...if you ever drive the turnpike there are signs that say "TO 95" so technically, the NJTPKE is NOT 95. There is a small portion of 95 around the Trenton area after you cross the (dammit I can't remember the name of the bridge..stupid wine, lol) bridge, but that ends when 295 takes over.

I think the most fatal areas of 78 and 80 are NOT near NYC, but closer to PA. Would love to see stats on this.

Really? Probably because the land out there is rough and rocky, and very mountainous.

The Turnpike is 95 from 18 E&W down to 6. The 95 by Trenton is a spur and merges back with it in PA after the 276 extension from exit 6.

What's the Pulaski Skyway? 1-9, right? That HAS to be the most dangerous road on which I've ever drive in my life.

That said, most of the accidents near the cities seem to be congestion-related are are low-speed fender benders. The real deadly accidents seem to be deep into the suburbs where traffic is lighter and speeds are much higher. The Garden State Parkway from Wall Township to Toms River is probably one of the most accident-prone areas in the entire state as far as deadly accidents go. There seems to be a new one every day.
