I used to have Comcast and dumped it for DirecTV. I will never go back to any cable TV. I enjoyed watching Strasburg stike out 14 guys last night on MLB. Cant do that on cable!!

Comcast has the same feature called MLB Extra Innings. All games are available. The only unique sports they have is the NFL for a few more years. I dropped it when it go way too expensive and didn't offer that much more than available on the other channels.

I got feed up with it going out during rain storms. Then when I needed HD, they told me I'd have to take down several large trees because the HD sats are lower on the horizon. Cable was still needed for internet and soon the phone service.

DirecTV Users Wake Up To Crippled HD Boxes - Company working on a fix - dslreports.com
When I originally posted, there weren't many posts about it.

My son said it was - a software issue with all hd dvrs (hr-2x) and standard dvrs model r-22.

He has a newer model then I have in the family room; his was not affected.

DTV ended up reflashing the boxes, had to be about 2:30 - 3pm. Daughter & I were watching Real Housewives of NJ when it shut down, rebooted & had different messages on the screen then when it usually reboots. I wasn't paying a lot of attention to it.

I did the exact opposite. The only advantage DTV had was the NFL package. Everything else sucked.

Comcast has pretty much every sports package except for the NFL including MLB. So yes, you can do that on cable.

I had the Sunday Ticket for a few years. then they started raising the prices to a point it wasn't worth it. They run enough games on the network stations that I didn't miss that many. $315 per year!! No way.

Ohh. Did not know comcast got MLB rights. Nice..Well, Ill still take DirecTV over them anyday with tons more HD channels, more channels in general, and lower price. and yes, NFL ticket is expensive but also most popular of the bunch.

DIRECTV There was a transmission glitch that occured early this morning affecting some of our HD DVRs. DIRECTV has fixed the problem and has automatically reset the affected receivers. There is nothing further that you need to do. We apologize to our customers for any inconvenience this has caused them.

They are updating the guide which also updates the firmware of the boxes. It has been far from glitch free. You can check to see if you have the upgrade by checking the setup menu, cable box menu and configuration.

The HD channel lineup is almost the same on both. No idea about the On Demand but Comcast has a huge lineup. More were added lastweek and mid June is the second section coming on line.

On Demand is where DTV sucks the big one compared to Comcast. When I had DTV they only had a handful of new movie choices that you had to pay for.

Comcast has hundreds of free shows to choose from in their on demand along with the new movies you could pay for.
