It's just an old chauvinistic comment that makes you roll your eyes when you hear it, but it's just that...an old running "joke" if you will. It's not funny, but....

It just came out without his even thinking about it, and once I was trying to remember why it got out so fast--there may have been a local reporter with the group, probably out at a hunting camp or such.

And yes, it probably did cost him the election, but he's not a politician, and has never run for any political office again.

The fact that the Denish campaign is dragging up this old stuff makes them look sort of desperate...as well as stupid in the bargain.
And you really believe that the Martinez campaign wouldn't do the same thing, given the opportunity?

Of course they would. And, for the record, it wasn't the Denish campaign that first brought this to light. Somewhere there is a journalist actually doing his or her due diligence, something the Martinez camp clearly did not do.

So, how 'bout that Denish rally in Espanola yesterday?
They estimate ~4000 people turned out. Of course, they had a great headliner

I would hope they'd come up with something SIGNIFICANT, instead of old crap that doesn't make two cents' worth of difference!

Funny, as I noted in an earlier post, all of the papers are estimating between 3000-4000 people. Here's another couple of links:

"The Denish campaign said it distributed about 5,000 tickets for people to go to the rally, but it appeared only 3,000 to 4,000 people attended."

The funny thing is.... the local radio station KDCE was giving free tickets all day the say before the rally... and not many people wanted them.
The local paper "Rio Grande Sun" staff writer told me yesterday only 700-900 people were in there.

I was with the martinez camp across the street, I think we had more of a turn out! I think there were about 70-90 Susana supporters mostly hispanics.

Maybe the state is not quite so "liberal" as some people believe.
