chile roaster (Hatch: renting, buying, car wash)

A friend of mine was telling me about buying chile from a place in Hatch & the roaster had something like a water blaster that knocked the skin off the chile after roasting on it. Then dumping the chile into ice water.
Can anybody tell me more about this method? My roaster would like info on the blaster.

Another use for a drive do it yourself car wash? I suggest renting a pressure washer and buying a bushel of peppers and do your own experiments. I'll bet some of the peppers won't be peeled and others will turn to mush. Have fun.
