Is there a book that you would recommend for mushroom hunting for New Mexico or the southwest? We have found a few different ones that are good to eat, but interested in others.
Thanks,
Jane

Jane, not sure if there is a book out there or not. I would love to know what you are finding that you can eat. One of many things that I have been interested in over the years that I have never had the time to really pursue.

Wink NM mushrooms

This site may help you:
Fungi species

One book it mentions, of which I know nothing, is 'Mushrooms Demystified.'

This seems a good year for mushrooms in Colorado, possibly areas of New Mexico as well?

I've seen some of the biggest mushrooms at the ranch this year then I have ever seen before. Sure would like to learn about them.
Thanks for the link.

Just ordered from Amazon Mushrooms Demystified and Mushrooms and Truffles of the Southwest.
Hope this gives me what I want.. What Kent was getting was pear shaped or gem puffball. They are small but they got them about every day.

Thanks for the mushroom guide of the SW recommendation. Does it have color photos?

We've become very avid mushroom pickers while up here in Alaska & are now taking our new skill back to our home in NM.
