We have beautiful clouds. Those help to make our sunrises and sunsets so beautiful. We just don't have one large solid layer of cloud. If I was forced to live in the PNW I would have SAD so bad it would be pathetic. Three days of not seeing sun has me bonkers.

Well the PNW has many great qualities, but sun is not one of them. We can literally go for weeks without appreciable sun in winter here. I am pretty used to it, so I don't seem to suffer too badly. I really could use about 25% more sun in winter. Other than that, the weather here suites me fine. But it is NOT for everyone. On the other hand, with my Irish-American wife and son, I would probably not want to live in a super sunny place (like Las Cruces, etc.) because it would be too harsh on their skin. Aesthetically, the cumulus and cumulonimbus clouds of the Southwest make for stunning skies, and are my favorite.
