I am looking at some off grid acreage south of Cibola National Forest, south west of San Antonio at the foothills. It list the property at about 5800 ft. How hot during the summer and how cold in the winter? I don't care about night life and social gatherings, nor employment, I am only interested in bird photography in central NM and southeast AZ. I have two Jeeps so I can get around. Can I get by without air conditioning, as I will be running on solar?
Thanks,

I grew up near that area. I have family that live in San Pedro. The summers can get over 100, but average would be mid 90's. Winters can get to zero or below...then there is the windchill factor. There are things that will bite and sting you out there and a few predators such as Bobcat, Mountain Lion and Black Bear.

Beautiful country out there. Be sure the property you find has been surveyed and marked, and that there is official or deeded access to it. Some areas let you do whatever, some restrict the type of building or camping time. Socorro has about anything you could need to buy, so you wont be that far away from civilization if you need it.
