Ill take most places over Santa Fe, money being a huge factor.

Move from Holland to Hobbs is not that big a deal. I found Ireland to NM pretty easy.

We too are relocating the the Hobbs area and are in need of a rental home for about a year - I've read this thread and emailed the Chamber and Pm one of the members here - any other suggestion - I'll be there within the next 2 weeks starting the project and my wife will follow when we find a house.

Default Lovington or Hobbs? or in Lea County

I think living accomodations is the biggest detractor. Most housing is old 30+ years or is trailors.

For me, I'd just build a house for myself and build a small apartment complex as an investment.

Default Mrs. Martinez

I read your thread about housing in Hobbs, NM. I am moving there for about a year and will be looking for an apartment, or small house to rent. Can you give me any info on either?

Regards,

Makinupgirl

Maaybe yopu will have to bring your own in the form of a camping trailer and try to find a place to rent a parking spot.

I though of a quip: You don't need rental help to move to Hobbs, you need mental help.

Good luck though.

I was considering relocating to Hobbs, but if there are no homes for rent I may reconsider. Are Roswell and Carlsbad too far to commute? Seems they have many more rental properties available.

I live in Ft. Lauderale and recently visited my son who recently moved to Hobbs. I was expecting some culture shock, but not at all prepared for what I saw. Good luck!!!! Not much grass, green, or trees...no sidewalks. Water was awful. Never saw a person walking around nor in their backyards! Houses mixed in with trailers....I was personally getting tired of Florida, but came home kissing the ground!!!! You most definitely need to spend time there before moving there!!!! Oh..one other interesting point...substitute teachers in the public schools do not need any degree...high school diplomas will get you the job! A little scary...

I live in Florida and recently visited my son who recently moved to Hobbs. OMG, what a shock! I was prepared for a cultural difference, but this was a bit much. No grass, trees, or green. Red clay for the most part (beware of 'dirt storms'). No sidewalks. Homes mainly mixed in with trailers, however, did note one or two nice residential areas. Drugs and crime prevelant. In order to be a substitute teacher in Hobbs, all that is needed is a high school diploma (maybe a GED). Teen pregnancy rampid. Home schooling would definitely be the way to go! There must be some redeeming qualities, but not too sure...I was there for eight days...seven too long!!!! How in the world did you pick Hobbs????!!! PLEASE visit before moving!!!! I don't know much about the fishing and lakes!!!! Saw one small lake in a public 'park', but the age for fishing was under 12 and over 65!!!! Please explore further! Good luck!!!
