The 3rd annual Rabbit Ear Poker Run takes place Aug 26th and 27th. It is a fund raiser for a scholarship that we donate to.

Here is a blurb from our website
“Our third annual Rabbit Ear Run poker run, bike rodeo, cowboy rodeo and Texas Hold-Em Tournament is just around the corner, August 26th and 27th. All proceeds go towards our area scholarship fund. The cowboy rodeo is kicking off the event again this year on Friday night. The rodeo is for novices who want to try a bull or shoot dogging and there will be professional events as well, all sponsored by the Wiseman Rodeo Company. The poker run will start Saturday morning at 7am with registration in front of the Historic Eklund hotel (the Eklund will have special rates for the event, just mention Rabbit Ear Run). First Bike out at 8am last bike out 9am, last bike in at the fairgrounds by 1 pm. After everyone gets back we will start the bike rodeo. The event’s will include dart throw, paint ball shoot, slalom, weenie bite and a few others that may surprise ya. After the bike rodeo, around 5pm we will have a Texas Hold-em tournament sponsored by “Clayton Main Street Association”. Lastly we will close out the night with a live band, “Sweet Water”. We are expecting vendors and there will be plenty of food concession. The Clayton High School cheerleaders will be taking picture and after the run will have a bike cleaning station set up. CAGLE Designs will have lots of neat vinyl stickers for sale. We will have shirts (new design and long sleeve) and pins for sale. Concession will have Hamburgers, sausage on a stick, Frito pie and lots more.”

The Eklund Hotel is also offering a discount to people for the two nights if they mention they are here for the run.

On the 26th we have the rodeo, bull riding and shoot dogging are the events. All are welcome to take part if you dare!

Its the first time the Eklund Hotel has been open since we started the run so we have decided to kick it off at the Eklund and finish it at the Union County Fairgrounds. Here is a few pics of the run from last year.

Of course there are several games after the run too!

Anybody planning on coming ? Would be nice to see a few people from here. We seem to be increasing our patricipants each year too so lets hope the trend continues =) Remember its all for a good cause too!

Dont forget to visit the website at RabbitEarRun.com and "Like" our facebook too =)

It's about three weeks earlier than I'd care to ride a motorcycle across the scorching plains of Texas in order to get there.
