Hello, I'll be going on my honeymoon in a week or so and we were wanting to go up the mountain. I think it's Wheeler peak? Or is it Kachina Peak? Either way we want to go up one of them. I was wondering if we would be able to ride the ski lift up either one of them? (sorry I've never been skiing or snow boarding so I'm not sure what is allowed from non skiiers lol) We are wanting to hike around when we get up there but I just don't want to have to hike the HOLE mountain. Which ski lift should we take if this is acceptable?

They offer chair lift rides in the summer only. It is too early to be "hiking" at high elevations there, unless you want to hike in the ice, snow, and mud. If I were you I would call Carson National Forest (575-758-6200) and ask if there are any good places near there to hike during your visit. You don't have to hike a whole mountain if you don't want to, but this time of year you probably couldn't anyway.
