I've been wanting to do a fall aspen ride for over ten years, and now I've done it.. and I want to make it an annual pilgrimage. Sure, the trail starts at over 10,000' and tops out over 12,000' and there isn't much air. Pedaling is fun....

Aspen Vista Trailhead (above Santa Fe, NM):
Heading up from the trailhead - a light breeze made the aspens shimmer in gold:
High mountains, blue spruce intermix with the aspens:
Nothing like the aspen's silver-white bark and shimmering gold leaves to make a mountain biker's heart happy!
iPhone pix of the same ride:
A Santa Fe Brewing Co Java Imperial Stout in the mountains above Santa Fe - just doesn't get much better than this:
Note to self: visit New Mexico in mid-October to see those scenes up close and personal. Here in Florida, the only leaves that change color are those of dying trees
Am I right to assume that one cannot find that scene in the Sandias above ABQ???

I've got some of that in the very same room where I'm typing this bit.
I've also got some Marble Brewery Oatmeal Stout. (*)
I have to respect a guy who appreciates Fall colors, good beer, and good Scotch even if he's wrong on some stuff.
(*) For some reason, wife doesn't like the Java Stout, but loves the Marble product. I like em' both.

Sandias also have aspens although not as many as in the Santa Fe National Forest along the Aspen Vista trail where N8!'s shots were taken.

Absolutely beautiful pics N8! It's posts like these that continue to have me dream of moving to New Mexico! I miss the Aspens in my home state of Colorado and was so happy I got to see a few of them changing when I was visiting there last month. For now, I just have to live vicariously through others. Thank you!

If you didn't go up to the Del Agua overlook, you would feel that Fall had been wasted wouldn't you?
( You have posted about it before. ) It is a fine spot!
