I plan on flying to NM (Socorro), from the Baltimore area. Is it always the Albuquerque airport? Wouldn't this mean I'd have to drive an hour south?

Any suggested cheap flight tickets let me know. It's been over a decade since I flew. LOL.

I would love to drive to NM from MD on a rental car but it's 3 days!

Albuquerque will be it with it's hour drive south. The next closest real airport would be El Paso which is three hours to the south of Socorro.

I'm seeing $475 on Priceline for round trip.

Those are the nearest commercial airports. Socorro has a field just south of town.

Depends on when you travel. Book ahead. BWI to ABQ round trip in June is $402 round trip. We have been using Expedia.com for reliable arrangements for over 20 years? Travelocity.com on occasion. I commuted the route about 10 times a year by air in 1999/2000 and brought two cars, truck and a motorcycle out. The three day drive is remarkably boring. Two of my commutes took 10 days (via Tallahassee, New Orleans and San Antonio to visit friends) Left our plane in Hagerstown...

You did not mention approximately when, round trip or one way, etc...

The drive from Albuquerque to Soccorro is nothing. 1 hour to a regional airport is better than most people in the country enjoy.

ASAP next month, would have to be round trip since I'm coming back. I'm going to NM to check out a property and the state I haven't been to.

$400 round trip sounds a lot but I'm sure driving for 3 days would eat as much gas and motels, etc.

Fly and then drive. Try to rent a car off the airport to avoid airport access fees. I think there is a bus to downtown ABQ.

1800 miles, about 27 hours of driving one way, so your talking 54 hours of driving...

Search around
1 Sep 2014, return 7 Sep - $346.00 round trip
1 Sep 2014, return 4 Sep - $260.00 round trip

I use to travel as much as 200 days per year... A lot of factors affect prices. Check around.

Dang, those are nice prices round trip from BWI to ABQ. I was paying a good deal more for that trip over the last few years.

well if you buy the tickets months ahead it should be cheaper. Curious if there are other means of getting to NM from MD (trains or buses)? Would it cost more? I know it'll take longer than a few hours flight.

Where do I check again on what I can't take on a flight? The airport website? It's been over a decade since I flew and that was pre 9/11. I heard there's so much scrutiny just going through the security.
