I might be getting a job for Corrections Corporation of America in Milan, New Mexio. What town is a good place to live around there? I keep seeing on these threads that Grants, NM is a bad place to live and if your white, you should stay away. Is this true or what? I have 2 kids, 8 months and 6 yrs with 1 on the way, so is it all right anywhere around Milan or Grants to raise them. My wife is Mexican and I am white, would this be a problem? I am worried now about taking them out there and myself. PLEASE HELP!

I find it hard to believe that the whole town could be racist, im sure there are racist people there, like anywhere else. Are you going to check the area out before you go there ?

I had just read it on other threads was all. I know its just a few people and should not worry but its a big move and just want to make sure. Yes I am going to check the area out first, I am going to Clovis beginning of next week and then we are driving over to the area. I hope I like it, on the towns web site it seems very nice. Others on different threads keep saying how they don't like white people there and that gangs are really bad, but who knows, I am giving it a shot. I loved New Mexico when I was there before!

I have done work in that area for numerous years and have never ever had an issue.
If you like to hunt you will be in some pretty good elk country up at mt. taylor and the zuni mtn range.

I stayed in Grants at the Motel 6 one time and had a great dinner and breakfast at the nearby mom and pop restaurant. (4 BEES), and had no problems.

I worked there for a week a half a few years ago. No problems. People were really nice.

The weird thing about Grants was there were whole big subdivisions that were empty and boarded up - left overs from the unranium mines closing. Other than that a nice quite small town. I drove up Mt. Taylor and it IS pretty country.

Please don't reply using the [quote] button to posts with
a picture on it. I already saw the picture and don't need
to see it twice.
