Good post, Rich.
I found the DesertUSA website a few years ago and think it's a great resource for info on Southwest places and things to see, activities, history, etc. Main URL is Desert Biomes by DesertUSA for any readers that aren't familiar with it. Also features some great photos.

Do you know if the Catwalk is now open again? It was badly damaged by severe flooding last September. A May 2014 local newspaper article from Silver City (Congress allocates $4.4M for Catwalk Trail repairs in Gila National Forest - Silver City Sun-News) indicates the feds were going to provide $4.4M toward the repair, but I haven't heard a schedule for completing the work. The FS website - Gila National Forest - Special Places - says it is still closed but don't know whether that post is up to date or not.
