What type of fruit trees grow at 6000-7000 ft? (Alamogordo: office, location) - New Mexico (NM) - City-Data Forum

I'm thinking of places like High Rolls or Bent - Maybe Ruidoso. My guess is it would be a bit different from Alamogordo which is warmer and lower.

I know apples. Anything else that is appealing?

In addition to apples, apricots and cherries do very well in central and northern NM at 4-6,000 ft.

You could call the local county ag extension office for info relevant to your specific location of interest.

I know people up here (7000 ft) have thriving pear, peach, and plum trees too (along with apples, apricots and cherries as ABQConvict mentioned). Nectarines might do well, but I don't know anyone who has one.
Berries (raspberries and blueberries) are supposed do well at this elevation if you can keep the critters out of them.
