I read the fineprint of this poll and wasn't surprised to see Clinton leading Bush in New Mexico by significantly more than her nationwide lead (up 16 points in NM compared to 7 in the US generally).

But what I was surprised to see was this:

Q: Do you prefer green chiles, or red chiles?

Green chiles 66%
Red chiles 21%
Not sure 14%

That's 3 out of 4 people in New Mexico who like green chile better than red chile. Even including undecideds or those who declined to answer, it's 2 out of 3. That's a supermajority and a half.

Where are all the red chile fans in New Mexico?

I though the true New Mexicans liked both equally.

That's too bad on both questions presented in the OP.

It's hard to mess up green chile, but red chile takes more skill to get right.

I prefer red. Because I prefer it on enchiladas and I love carne adovada.

However, I like green on my breakfast burritos.

As far as the political bent of this topic, while I am sure Hilary Clinton is favored by many New Mexicans, polling numbers change quick and that poll is over a year old.

A couple of things come to mind: Hillary: according to a couple of reports I heard yesterday, the latest polls are pretty slanted, so I wouldn't put too much into them, but it is also not a secret there are a lot more Dems than Repub in NM. I doubt she will win the state anywhere close to 16 points, she does stand a good chance of winning. I would like to think I am wrong on this one.

As for chiles, people think Hatch and they think green, so I can understand that poll.

Seems like it's the opposite to me. I've had much more bad green chile then bad red chile in my lifetime.

We just returned to New Hampshire from a 9 day vacation in New Mexico. After many meals the Green chille I can buy around here just does not taste the same.

PLEASE, do not mix the words "green chile" and "H******" in the same thought.

Green chile is APPETIZING and WONDERFUL, and should not be mixed with the H-word.

Anyway, she strikes me as one of those who would refuse to try green chile because "it's too 'spicy'!"

All presidential hopefuls should have to sit down to a big plate doused with red and green and eat it without flinching, whining, or gulping water or asking for sour cream. THAT is how the next president should be chosen.

Green chile is much more common and used by many restaurants so people know it.

Hillary is not quite so appetizing, however looking at the GOP hopefuls makes me barf. Ron Paul or Gary Johnson might be nice but not Rand a slick imitation
