At least a plurality will concur, and these representatives will be re-elected in the next cycle. This is a local example of what challenges exist here. As long as this mentality is embraced by the majority of residents, the state will not succeed in being economically viable. Political leaders here do not believe in liberty, or prosperity, but, instead, on dependency and maintaining a permanent welfare state. The most humane solution is to lift as many as possible out of a dependency cycle. What is the solution? Better parenting, choosing not to have children until the parents are able to afford them. That's not something a politician can solve. However political leaders could discourage such behavior by rescinding the generous welfare programs currently in place. The citizens, though, vote for these political figures to continue the generosity.
Ah, the sixteenth century.

If I had chosen to not have children until I could afford them, I would not have children.

wow this thread started in 2015, the OP was asking about the perfect climate, now it's about welfare, hmmm. I do know where in New Mexico there is the perfect climate but I won't say because then everyone will move there and start flipping houses!

I'm sticking with my choice of the tiny village of Reserve.

Or Apache Creek.

Luna is beautiful, but very cold in winter, as it is in a valley. Mostly Morman.

On the eastern side of the state, Cloudcroft, High Rolls, SunSpot!

Lincoln county is pretty along the river.

Al of these are SMALL towns.
