Harvest Festival
Saturday & Sunday, August 16 - 17, 10 a.m. - 6 p.m.

It’s a weekend of delicious locally grown food, tractor parade, music and fun for the entire family. at the Harvest Festival at Wildlife West Nature Park, in Edgewood. The weekend event celebrates the area's culture, traditions and agricultural heritage. Visitors can experience the rich history of the pinto bean farming in the Pinto Bean Museum, which displays antique bean processing equipment, farming artifacts and historic local photos. We have more cool stuff to enjoy this year as we added on site an old threshing machine and an old seed cleaner that all were used pre WWII, made possible through a grant from the Northern Rio Grande National Heritage area

The Festival opens on Saturday morning with a tractor parade beginning at 9 a.m. at Wildlife West. The parade goes along Frontage Road, turns south along Highway 344, then west along Route 66, ending at the Tractor Supply Company.

Throughout the weekend visitors can sample and purchase locally grown products ─ fresh cut sweet corn, raspberries, honey, pumpkins and other yummy products. Anasazi Fields Winery will be on hand on Saturday for wine tasting.

New this year will be a snake identification presentation and close-up viewing of reptiles by the New Mexico Herpetological Society. Also, behind the scenes black bear tours and presentations about endangered Mexican wolves by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife staff. Mark Chavez, renowned chainsaw artists, will demonstrate his artistic chainsaw techniques.

Visitors can stroll through the park and have fun experiencing an old west atmosphere. They can explore a replica of the western town of Venus (original name of Edgewood), and see blacksmith demonstrations, antique cars and trucks, old iron tractors and machinery, and historic ranch equipment. Then take an old-fashioned hayride around the park. There will be games for children, folk music by Jimbo, opportunity to experience wildlife up close, and many artists and vendors.

Tractor games at the park begin at 2 p.m. on Sunday at the field in front of the historic Pinto Bean Barn.

All activities throughout the weekend, except for the Chuckwagon Dinner Show, were included with regular admission to the park. Music performances are presented in a covered all-weather amphitheater. Plus free dry camping and parking.

11TH ANNUAL PORK & BREW BBQ STATE CHAMPIONSHIPS

The 11th Annual Pork & Brew and New Mexico BBQ State Championship will return to the Santa Ana Star Center from July 4 – 6, bringing together the best barbecue vendors from around the region for a three-day festival featuring food, beer, live music and interactive family activities.

This year’s event, presented by the Santa Ana Star Casino and hosted by the Rio Rancho Convention and Visitors Bureau, will feature an indoor/outdoor format ensuring the 20,000 expected attendees can enjoy all the festival has to offer rain or shine.
