Tucumcari is now less than 5000 population. Other than along I-40, the rest of the town is on life support. I live in Quay County.

They just opened up the ethanol plant and put in a cattle feedyard next to it in the north edge of town. As long as the wind is in the south, that will be ok.

Flying J put in the big truckstop at the Mountain Road Exit. They are having problems finding employees who can pass a drug test.

20 miles up US54 is the village of Logan which will likely become the main city in Quay county soon. As Tucumcari shrivels on the vine, Logan is growing. All sorts of opportunities abound at Logan. Ute Lake Ranch Development is identifying with Logan rather than Tucumcari. Logan appears to be able to hold Tucumcari's corrupt politics at bay.

Clovis and Amarillo would be shopping centers from the Tucumcari area. Both towns are close, about 100 miles.

Hey Everybody. Sorry I havent been here in a few days. I work at 2 jobs. 74 hours this week. Im a walking zombie. Sucks to have to pay bills, doesnt it? I will have to look at Logan this June. I need to know about political dramas. I dont like "big brother" much. I was sad to see Tucumcari the way it is right now. Not the same even as 5 years ago. What does everyone know about Grants, Gallup, and the outskirts of Albuquerque? Im hoping to find something thats stuck in a time warp. Me and my Old Chevy..

My husband drove down Route 66 from Chicago many years ago, that's how he found Alamogordo, NM. Just a detour that changed his life. We later spent our honeymoon there and hope to someday live there though the obstacles keep coming at us.

Alamogordo is beautiful. I love White Sands. It is very peaceful there. Id love to take lots of pictures there. I plan to be there again sometime over the summer. Im planning a big birthday trip to N.M. for my birthday. Hopefully be getting closer to finding my new home. Hey, did anyone know there are Route 66 personalized licence plates for your car? A number of people seem to love Alamogordo. I'm adding to my list of places to visit.

Devin you could cruise down the back way to Moriarity to Estancia and over to Corona at U.S. 54 and head straight down to Alamo if you ever decide to make the trip .

I'm a big fan of the US 380 to US 70 route, past Ruidoso and through Cloudcroft and the big tunnel.
