Thought this was worth posting. Looks like the second major fire in as many weeks. Albuquerque area had a significant event as well in the last couple of weeks.

30 m.p.h. winds--not good.
6% humidity--not good either.

This is my favorite part of the state. Damn.

My wife and I just looked at a retirement house near Ruidoso a month ago and I just saw this terrible news on the Lubbock news this morning. Sad to see so many folks losing their homes to fire but due to the extreme dry conditions in much of the Southwest right now I'm having to closely watch our farm here on the Texas South Plains. We're surrounded on all sides by tall native grasses that are bone dry. I keep it mown back about 200 to 300 yards from the house and barns but it would still burn like gasoline if ever lit.

I'm a lot more concerned about residents who have to live in work here than I am "vacation home owners" losing their vacation homes. That's a first world problem.

Just a bit ago I've sent a request to the mods to make this thread a *sticky, am watching the Weather Channel right now and there are other fires in New Mexico that have popped up a few days ago.

Wow! It’s because of these vacation home owners that many of these “residents” have jobs. These vacation home owners bring with them lots of cash that gets infused into the local economy. Might wanna rethink your rant.

No thank you, but its nice to know you think second home owners are more important than residents who have had not the 2nd homes destroyed, but their lives and their PRIMARY RESIDENCE. The 2nd home owners have somewhere else to go.

Losing your 2nd home is a first world problem.

I totally agree. And luckily, America is not a 3rd world country. At least not yet.
