I have been reading this forum and learning a lot, thank you everyone for sharing your knowledge. I am considering the idea of relocating to Silver City. I do have some questions that maybe locals could answer.

Crime data is back from 2012 and I am wondering how things have changed since then. Would you consider Silver a place that feels safe to live? Or is that too broad, and certain parts of Silver are safer than others? Or whatever you can say about current crime levels. I see reports in the Grant County Beat:

Population seems to be declining from about 1990 to present. Why is that? Are there certain types of people that are leaving? Or anything else I should know?

There was a mention on wikipedia that when Phelps Dodge used to own the copper mines near Silver (back in 2007) they thought the mines would be closed by 2032. I don't see anything on the current mine owner's website stating that.

It seems like the mines have a decent size economic impact on the area:

Is this a city likely on the economic decline?

I might have more questions, but these are what come to mind at this stage of my research. Thank you for any insights on the above, or any other relevant information for someone looking to relocate.
