Oh cool, thanks for the links!

I was going to start hunting for glider clubs once I recover from all the surgeries and stuff, now I have them bookmarked

They had this in the high desert in CA and I never got to try it but I knew there must be clubs in NM

I wanted to take a ride with these guys a couple years ago and couldn't track them down. They must be doing a better job publicizing or answering their phones now or something. Unfortunately I don't have 100 bucks to spare.

It can be an expensive hobby and very often becomes an obsession with those who take it up seriously. I recall there is a club in El Paso, and friends I once knew who flew with them "earned" flying credits by showing up and volunteering to do a lot of the "grunt work" of launching and recovering the sailplanes. That club still maintains a web site but it says they are not currently active and refer interested parties to the White Sands club, featured in this thread.
