Probably 300 of them will get their lazy ass out and vote, Moderator cut: Political post removed

funny stuff.

when i went to elementary school in farmington, there were no mascots.

i did always like the scorpion as the high school mascot, even though there are precious few scorpions in that neck of the woods..

Are you kidding me?!

If it's going through I can tell you what forces are behind it. The biggest corporate beaver in New Mexico. Toyota. There should be more separation of corporation and life.

I can already imagine the half-times:

"Everyone stand up and cheer on your Santa Fe High School Beaver Precision Driving Team. As you watch the display, consider the value of a new Toyota Tundra with a quad-overhead cam i-Force V-8 engine. With it's 350 foot pounds of torque, this is one little Beaver that can really bring those big trees down! And don't forget, everyone who fills out a loan application today gets a complementary set of wearable Beaver teeth. Perfect for showing your Beaver pride at special occasions like: away games, when your out on the town with friends, or baptisms and christenings.". Gooooooooo Beavers!

In SF, over 400 Parents were complianing about the Mascot Change, and threatened to take their kids out of the school, the students are also petitioning the change.. so the final decision is left up to the board, I'm suprised this isnt getting any attention to the Media.

And in Espanola, the Catholic Church in San Juan is suing Espanola Valley Schools for using the Sundevil as the mascot for the High School, they are asking to change it immediately.

Another community member and two former teachers are also pushing the removal of the Sundevil, and their fighting hard to get the name changed back to the "Hornets", it was the mascot of Espanola high School it closed in 1973, they infact were the alumni of the school.

Parents of Students at EVHS threatened the school they would sue if they changed the mascot, and pull their children out of the school as well nearly 250.. there was a rally for two days along riverside drive the main street with over 100 students with signs that read "Keep our Sundevils!" "Its our Mascot!". The school board voted 5-1 to keep the mascot, and 1,012 students voted to keep, and 34 to change.

I can think of a dozen things on the news that weren't half as interesting as what's going on up there. Maybe because it's in active litigation, but how could you miss getting a shot of the over hundred students along riverside with signs?

It came out on one of the News channels..three of my friends told me,.. let me tell you about the Media in Northern New Mexico... they like to ruin Espanola, even its own Newspaper does, it never says anything positive about the high school..at all, i think thats what made Espanola look bad in the first place. There are so many great things going on in that town, for real..when i was there we took state for three things and all they would do is bash us (the athletes) and the coaches, that school is still great and till this day people belive its a drop out druggie school when its not, but the community knows EVHS is a great school, i mean com'on we filled up the pit last year!.. EVHS was named the best improved and best overall high school in NM last year. I also thought it was great for the students to get together like that, they have been tryin to change the mascot ever since i was a freshmen there.
