If anyone with kids is looking for a really neat Christmas experience, you need to visit Cloudcroft. Santa and Mrs. Claus fly in on the Saturday after Thanksgiving. They catch the fire truck over at the fire station and have a short ride around town before arriving at the park behind the Chamber of Commerce. Mrs. Claus hands out cookies while Santa lets the kids sit on his lap. They have bonfires, hot cocoa, and roasted marshmallows. There wasn't any snow this year, but it was still really fun.
For added fun when there is snow, we drive down towards Sunspot during the day and play in the snow for a couple of hours. Sometimes we've been lucky enough to see the herds of (rein)deer that Santa keeps there. Dress warm and be sure to grab a meal around 4 or so because most(all) of the restaurants are closed after the event.
If anyone needs another chance at this, I think he's coming back on December 20th. Check out the Chamber website or call up there.
