Are there any real houses with lawns, trees and garages in Deming. I visited there and all I seen was trailer houses, I call them that, they have fancy names as manufactured homes, mobile homes etc.
I would like to buy a real house in that area.
Also how friendly are the locals so people moving in from other areas?

If you use Google Maps to hone in on Deming, the area south of I-10 and west of Country Club Rd. is all residential. The housing is pretty much of a wild mix with shacks and decent houses all in the same block. This is virtually all older housing stock. Some well-maintained, and some not.

This is not the only housing in the area. About 2 miles south of town on Country Club Rd. is Country Club Estates. This is much more uniform housing and is an age-restricted (55 and over) development. Houses there range from 1,000 to 1,500 sq. ft.

My wife and I were is southern NM in late May - early June of 2005 and covered ~1,400 miles looking at different places. Our experience was that there is not the uniformity of housing that you are accustomed to if you come from a larger city. That can be either good or bad depending on your particular outlook. We were somewhat surprised, but not totally put off. It just means that we'll have to research thoroughly when we are finally able to relocate to NM.

Visited Deming a few weeks ago. Country Club Estates for people over 55 is lovely. A new family subdivision called Equestrian Estates looks good. Deming is in the middle of nowhere and could never be defined as progressive. It has about 9 street lights in the entire town and no movie theater. But, the folks are friendly.

Just saw a lovely bungalow (based on style) in Deming a couple of blocks from main steet advertized for $72 k. Reator.com is your best friend for remote surveys.

I have noticed the availability of under 60K houses is rapidly decreasing.

Default Are there REAL houses in Deming?

I highly recommend all stay away from Deming. There is nothing at all that would interest most relocators. Stay where you are and enjoy.

That way, the wonderful place called Deming, can continue to enjoy their wonderful, peaceful life.
