Howya doin' Highdesert?! Been away on other things and in attack mode on the political boards so NM has been on a back burner. You still plannin' on high tailin' it outta there ASAP? WE really need to quit this Denver at some point in the not too distant future for the sake of our mutual sanity! Talk about a human "Skinner Box" experiment gone mad!!! Later bro./.......

Well, before all of this financial crisis hit, we were sort of intune to the prospect of leaving, but, with word of banks tightening the money supply, we're beginning to believe it's to our best interest to stay put. had a shack all picked out, and was going to see about financing, but with money fears growing nationwide, the picture looked scary, so, we're staying put for awhile.
yeah, this place went on the back burner for awhile. I just had to get into the politics thing and make a few right wingers mad, which I did, and received some madness back too.
my honey and I have renewed our interest in the surrounding forest, we've been to Gila the past 2-3 weeks. place is pretty much deserted, no body brave enough to weather the cooler nights up in the mountains, except we goofballs. right now, it's just beautiful up in the mountains. and, Gila is always calling me back, for some reason.
too bad you're stuck in denver, I'd almost say you don't know what you're missing, but that would be a cheap shot.
ya, you know, you're speaking of denver and the crime, etc,. I read a newspaper clip that said robberies, thefts, crime in general is up 27% in Albuquerque since 2007. must be the hard times? people turning to crime?
we never went by your place to check it out. we haven't had much rain as of late, things are drying out good. no complaints about that. so, how are you doing with your medicals?

Good to read you're still afoot in the desert bro! Yeah, I enjoyed slappin' the snot outta some bushies over on the political side...lotsa laughs We have a few days to play with tomorrow and the weekend so we're headed southwards. Don't know how far we will get but we aim for at least Trinidad or Raton...just to clear out of this wretched damn city. Worked on my bike a bit today and took her for a spin...luv'd it!!! My hand is still a mess and not improving. Hell, my whole bod is a mess and not improving, so bitchin' dosen't help to any great extent. But I contracted the mother of all colds recently and nearly choked to death on copious snot...my surgeon and anesthesiologist both cancelled me for my hand reconstruction until December 12. I'm trying to lose more bodyweight and increase cardio so I don't croak any time soon. I really don't care much either way but I'd like to have a few more adventures before I cash in my ticket. Keyboarding is tough. Left hand is normal but my right mitt permits use of only the forefinger and thumb...really sucks. I need to graft my head onto an unused twenty year old body if one becomes available...lemme know if you spot one on ebay or something, OK???

two things I didn't know about you, cycling and giving bushkies flack. you wouldn't be "one of those" would you?
everyone in the rv park I'm at has mc cain bumper stickers and signs, all old folks. I'm the only one with an osama "I mean obama sign" here. do you think they'll all quit saying hello to me?
oh, you and gregw might make a match, he rides too, and is salivating about doing the mountain road through the gila n.f., nm152, it's nice scenic drive.
sorry to hear you're in such bad shape. wished I could give you some good advice, but my doctoring ends with machines and cars.
when you get the chance, scribble a few words.

Went to Trinidad for Halloween and a little R&R over the weekend. Did wonders for our spirits. Love that town! If it were not for the severe winters we would have selected this as our target town to relocate to. Too much white stuff for mama come winter. Yeah, I'm no fan of McCan't and his trailer park vixen VP; never heard such a disengenuous and dishonest, fear mongering and race baiting campaign. I once liked McCain...say 10 years back...and would have felt comfortable with his presidency...no longer. His blind ambition, Rovian tactics, brown nosing of the far right and the profigate lies...so incredibly over the top...I've lost all respect for these bozo's. And the absurdly phony Joe the plumber B.S. is ridiculous in the extreme; hell, the joker now has a publicist and is seeking a country music contract!!! What bogus baloney. Typical GOP side shows, smoke and mirrors and dogs and ponies!!! Carpet Baggers all. Next we'll hear these cretins have employed Micky Mouse, Donald Duck, Hulk Hogan, a few porn stars and country music second stringers for cabinet posts!!!!! YeeeHAWWWW! Doggonit, dagnabit, goshdarnit...makes me want to revisit Fargo just for laughs!!!!! Anyway despite these sad and desperate tactics, which resonate with low information voters unfortunately...a predilection in rural/country settings...I still love the southwest beyond words. I just want to be around far fewer humans in the future, humans of either extreme...humans in general actually. Just a few well selected friends and aquaintances and the open desert wastes, my utopia. This bod is a problem, but I never give up. I train even when in agony, I know no other way, friend. And finally, I LLLOOOOVVVEEE bikes!!!!! I ride whenever I can find the time, energy and fortitude. All year/every season; I ride! Later bro.

Trinidad, is that near pueblo? seems I recall a hot shot trip from racine wisconsin to pueblo, and I think that was near trinidad? hot shotted one pallet of off insect repellent because of the west nile virus scare a few years ago, the walmart in pueblo had exhausted all repellers, and needed it badly I guess. 18 1/2 hour drive direct delivery, no stops except for fuel & batroom. was paid about $850.00 for that trip, used about 300 in fuel, the faster you go, the mo-gas you use. my only quicker trip was from milwaukee to huntsville alabama in 14 hours. speedy-gonzales.
you didn't come far enough south, 300 more miles, and you'd been here.
I used to ride, a chopped rice burner, but had a couple of mishaps (warnings from above) to get 4 wheels, and to quit me evil-knievel ways. hard to pull wheelies on a chopper. krazy man I was. or, only 1/2 baked nut on 2 wheels.
the 11th. of this month, there having a shin-dig at the Vietnam Veterans Wall here in T or C, and as usual, it attracts many veteran bikers. I'm not a Vietnam vet, but I like to stroll around and check out the iron. later this week, the rv park residents are planning a picnic to Emory Pass Vista for a lunch and get together, I don't know who planned it, but maybe someone should tell them there's no picnic tables at Emory Pass.??
I smoked the brakes again on my van last weekend doing mountain drives, second set I'll be having put on since being here. I'd use the tranny, but it's as old as the van itself, but, brakes are cheaper than tranny clutches I figure. It's what happens when you drive a 16 year old klunker.
don't want to be too nosey, I know you have property here, do you have a house on it?
we and your wife must be alike, we dislike snow too. if and when it snows here, I wait till nearly the end of the day to go outside, and the snow is usually gone by that time. ok, I'll admit it, we're sissies. right now, the weather is just about perfect, cool nights, nice warm days, and not hot like it is in the summer. we'll still have some nice weekends ahead for more mountain drives. I'd like to head for the Cibola National Forest once more before it snows in the upper elevations. I think it's called the Magdelena Mountains, a tougher drive than Gila's Black Range is. it's all gravel roads, no pavement at all. Greater chances of something breaking, springs, shocks, etc..But, I like it. talk about seclusion! No peoples at all.
I haven't kept track of all of your posts, but was wondering if you'd had physical therapy, other than working out? they say these hot mineral baths do wonders for many types of disabilities and conditions. I myself don't partake in them because a physician told me after I had the stroke to avoid warmer than normal hot waters, and only to take brief (10 minutes or less) showers. I guess the thing is the expanding of blood vessels and arteries. It must be factual, because one or more of the hot springs mineral baths here in T or C has claimed at least two lives. one I believe was reported as cardiac arrest? up in northern illinois, the VA Medical center had a physical therapy care facility which had excercise bikes, treadmills, and light aerobic machines, and they also had a stimulous machine one could place the arm into that sort of sand blasted (gently) and affected area which was stiff or numb. I did that one several times, and it seemed to help me regain some feeling in fingertips which were numb.
anyway, just wondering.
T or C seems to be getting normal as of late, maybe the bi-polars have left the county for another one. I had heard that Las Cruces was opening up some type of facility for the disabled and homeless.
post again, when you feel good, and take care. mutz.

Thumbs down HD is for Sissies

Don't care for Harley's; luv the look of the S$S mills but most are woefully underpowered...all blow and no go, so to speak. Can't remember how many HD's I've smoked over the years!!! Ah, impetuous youth...it fades so terribly fast Still, HD products usually are coveted by (1) Aging, hairy, fly-blown erstaz tough guy-types, (2) Born-again late middle aged pot bellied, bearded men on viagra seeking the last blush of youth and, (3) repulsive half-buffed yuppies wanting yet another fashion statement :"Look AT ME!!!" Can't deal with these pretenders and their insular obsession with the HD culture of exclusion. B.S. on a truly amusing scale Gimme REAL bikes with REAL cajones or plant my backside in a kickbutt 4x4 truck; naught else will do kiddies!!!!

P.S. The ONLY HD product worth a damn is the V-Rod; and it's not truly HD...more Posche than American Iron to be quite sure. I'd grow to be affectionate with one of those devils

LOL ! jeez you're funny!
My rice burner used to blow the doors off H-D's too. and, the riders of them used to always try to pick fights with me at the sleezy depot pub, but, I always tried to be peacemaker, and my reputation for being peaceful, brotherly love type thing always got me out of scrapes.
you like crotch rockets probably more than I did. I was just happy to sleeze back into the seat and rest my feet on the highway pegs. and, not really get in a hurry, unless I was buzzed up and trying to show off. which is what got me into trouble most of the time.
man, you'd love it down here in T or C, the weather during the daytime in the winter months is sooo mild, almost anytime is riding time. just have to wear an extra layer or two on cooler days.
well, we won't be staying up all night waiting for election results, we'll just get the news in the AM. we used to stay up into the wee hours, but we're older and more seasoned than to do that now.
I sort of wished I had a smaller cycle sometimes, but am not sure I can ride anymore with partial paralysis. wished I knew someone with a small scoot, just to let me try it out to see if I could or not. if I had a dirt bike, I know of plenty of places to go and discover around T or C. this is a nice area for rock hounding and looking for artifacts on BLM land.
well, be good now.

Howz 'bout a trike? No good on the off road surfaces but very easy on the back and legs buddy. They come in many iterations these days too. Check out Craigs and Ebay for some great prospects. I'm currently semi-shopping for a Rocket 3 and new they run close to 20K; on Ebay I've seen near new models for as low as $6,800!!!!!!
