I'm meeting 3 other riders in Bernalillo, a township about 15 miles north of Albuquerque,
at 7:30 tomorrow to do the following ride.
BERNALILLO TO SANTA FE ......47 MILES
SANTA FE TO EXPANOLA.........26 MILES
ESPANOLA 285 TO ANTONITO.....86 MILES
ANTONITO TO CHAMA ON 17......49 MILES
CHAMA TO PAGOSA SPRINGS......50 MILES
PAGOSA SPRINGS TO DURANGO....62 MILES
TOTAL TRIP TO DURANGO........320 MILES-ABOUT 5 HOUR TRIP
2ND DAY HOME:
DURANGO TO DOLORES (OR TO SILVERTON)....50 MILES
BACK TO DURANGO.........................50 MILES
DURANGO TO BERNALILLO...................198 MILES
TOTAL TRIP HOME.........................298 MILES
I've got a 100 oz Camelback water system on the handlebars behind the windshield, a
rally bag and roll bag combo on the sissybar and luggage rack to hold rain gear, riding
jacket, etc. and a large "student" type, soft-sided backpack with clothes, etc for the
trip mounted on the front of the sissybar and the passenger seat.
Should be interesting and I hope to have some pics of the smaller towns..

It's a great ride. I've done it before. If you can, take the higway north out of Durango through Silverton to Ouray. It's incredible, with a lovely waterfall. I'm sure you'll enjoy the trip you have planned.

One of my favorite rides in the USA. Absolutely gorgeous. Ask the locals and they will tell you "we only lose 1 or 2 vehicles a year on this road". There are no guardrails on this strip of highway. The snowplows have to be able to push the snow over the cliffs as they keep this road open all year long. Drop offs around the twisty turns are only a couple of thousand feet.
