Would any or either of y'all include Alamogordo in with that assessment of "liberal" southern New Mexico towns ta live in? Just curious, I may be moving there pretty soon.

No, with Holloman AFB there, it is more conservative than Las Cruces.

Obnoxiously conservative or just conservative-conservative, would you say, Rogarven?

Interesting, though politics are about as interesting as studying Dennis Rodman's smelly played-in NBA socks. Having said that, I know, I did ask about Alamogordo and it's conservatism. Thanks! Heading there late Thursday Dec.6th night until Sat.Dec.8th around mid-day for a view of Gerald Champion Regional Medical Center and what/who may be my new workmates and workplace! Pretty excited about it and, if I get a job offer, can't wait ta get on down to the beautiful desert Southwest and work and live.

Coolio topped off with an Iglasius, dudes and dudettes!

"Of course, "progressive" has nothing to do with liberal, as evidenced by this very "progressive" post. Progressive is a liberal code word. It's an attempt to paint conservatives as non-progressive in some way. Anecdotally, the most close-minded people I've known labeled themselves as liberals."

"It's not just a paint job. Political conservatism is characterized as "being resistant to change". How can you be progressive if, out of knee-jerk instinct, you are resistant to change...even when it's change for the better?"

I can't let these misconceptions go by..the term "Progressivism" comes form the Fabian Socialists in the early 20th century. It is the incremental creep towards socialism, within the far left faction of the Democratic Party. It has nothing to do with not being "resistance to change" in the way that some folks apply to Conservatives. It is a ideology of Socialism, no matter what the general public thinks it is.

Yes, it is a "key word" to those who know what it truly represents.

Why must people feel the need to sterotype themselves as liberal or the oppsite?

And then want to live where that sterotype is the norm?

The "propagandizers" want to divide us into factions so we are powerless and easy to manipulate. It's very sad how well it seems to be working...

Get rid of your TV... ignore internet ads... and propaganda designed to manipulate your emotions. Relax and say hi to your neighbor. Even if they live very differently than you, you have a lot in common... all the important stuff.

Madrid is definitely a liberal vibe. More like hippy-dippy. But does it even qualify as a village, much less a town?
