How is the hunting there? I am moving to Clovis for my job. I am a hunter hear in Michigan gun/bow for whitetail. Anyone know the laws out there or how to obtain permits or licenses for hunting? I hope I can hunt there and have my father come out to hunt also. Please anyone with any information or web sites, let me know! THANK YOU!

New Mexico has a hunting draw system. Every year you apply for the various hunts in the units you want and then in june the game and fish will release the results of the draw.
Those lottery draws are for elk, mule deer, antelope, bighorn, oryx, ibex and javelina.
You can buy a trapper tag over the counter if you want to hunt furbearers.
You can also buy turkey, mountain lion and bear tags over the counter.

Lots of great hunting to be had in NM.

Yes, pretty good hunting in NM. I hunt mainly birds but I would love to draw for antelope at least once. They are Tastyyy! Don't care much for the muley's too gamey for me. Oryx is also very good and they're having more and more permits for them as there's no predators here that can take one down.

You should be able to buy an over the counter tag for bow deer. Dove hunting should be great this year. No limit on the eruasion dove as long as you have not reached your limit of mournign or white wing dove.

I actually work in Clovis NM.(railroad) I have hunted MI and actualy harvested a nice 11 pointer right outside of Mesick MI. The hunting in NM is unreal but there are no bait piles. You have to be in shape for high alttitudes. You have to hike and glass, hike and glass. the one thing I missed in MI was the canyons we have in NM. The highest altitude in MI is 700 ft above sea level. NM averages 8000 ft above sea level.

Good Luck
