Do you burn any household waste in a burn barrel or pit?

Most folks down here burn there trash etc.

If so how often...or how do you dispose of it?

Trying to get a recycle/trash pickup set up that's better then the (1HR-per week) program here.

We have not burned any trash since being in Timberon as most freak out over that and I don't blame them.
We found out a couple of weeks ago that it's okay to burn here but to use common sense.
If we had a barrel, we would start burning trash or at least most of it.

Exclamation Re the trash burning in NM...

Checking with NM Enviro/air quality..it is a violation of the state law to burn any household waste.....burn barrels are strickly forbidden for household trash..

I have been checking around and even these laws are hard to enforce...smaller communities need a dump site..."convience center" they tell me in NM??

Your tax dollars are paying for the trash to be picked up...

Just some infor to consider and if you do not have a recycle spot or trash disposal site....talk to your county...

Just trying to keep the air and ground clean...

I'm all for keeping the air clean too but I also want to see less trash at our dumpster sight so I dont know which one is worse. They both have there pros and cons. I'm not sure about other parts of NM but I wish there was more of a concern for recycling around where I am. People want to do it but there is nothing in Timberon and it's scarce in Alamogordo.

You could create your own incinerator with a barrel, a fan and a fine screen on the exit. Paper trash can be burned with little smoke if you use enough under and over fire air.

It will still be illegal anyway.

Jeez, have we become so politically correct that we can't even burn some trash ???Out where I live, everyone has a 'burn barrel". Just use common sense, mornings are best because there's no wind.(go to hell, greenies).

Since when does tax dollars pay to pick up trash? I thought that was something that you paid for just like a water bill or a newspaper subscription.
