I need to travel from El Paso, TX to Angle Fire, NM in July, but will not have a car. What ground transportation options are available to get me to the vicinity of my destination? If I can get close by (i.e. Taos, Las Vegas, Springer or Raton) I could get someone to pick me up. Greyhound was my first guess, but they don’t seem to serve any of those towns, save Raton via a long detour and overnight trip to Amarillo.

What are my options?

El Paso to Albuquerque on Greyhound.
Albuquerque to Santa Fe on NM Rail Runner.
Taos Shuttle from Santa Fe.

Alternately,
El Paso to Albuquerque on Greyhound.
Albuquerque to Las Vegas/Raton on Amtrak.

Get a nice piece of cardboard and a magic marker, write Santa Fe/Taos on one side and Angel Fire on the other. Find an I-10/25 onramp by a truckstop....stand there and wait.
Seriously..good luck and get a bus.
The funny thing is, if you were in Mexico you'd have no problem whatsoever making a similar trip by bus, with convenient scheduling, low price, and a good quality bus. Their bus service all over the country is vastly superior to the USA.

Zoidberg listed the best methods. Greyhound also runs to Raton. TNM&O used to run from Albuquerque to Taos, but they've been taken over by Greyhound so you'd have to check with them to see if that service is still active.

There is no public transportation between Taos and Angel Fire, but there are a few taxi and car services in Taos that would probably be glad to take you to AF.

Buy a used motorcycle and a good helmet. Ride to Angel Fire via the Back Roads.

I'm thinking:

Angel Fire Village transportation/ express shuttle by Morning Star Express

"Morning Star Express is now servicing the
Albuquerque International Airport and the Santa Fe Airport
to/from Angel Fire Village and the Town of Taos.

Our goal is to give our clients the best customer service and
provide a direct route with few or no stops!

In the past several years this type of service has not been
offered and we feel that it is time to start. Excellent
customer service and the quickest way between the
International Sunport in Albuquerque/Santa Fe Airport and
Angel Fire Village is here and we are proud to serve New Mexico.
"

I used transport OR shuttle OR bus "Angel fire"
in my internet search box.

Once you are in Taos, I think the
holding a sign on the side of the road
idea wasn't a bad one. I'm serious too.
