Hod-fob, it is the mystery of it all that a very small town, that was unpaved and way out of the way, has a golf course. Now that it is paved to Timberon, I think many will go just to see that mystery!
thank crackerjack ! you know it migth of been the golf court for the military personel used because on the map i see there is a big military base closed by. from what i read a little bit earlier in the day. it was once a vacation resort but did not work out. but still thought , i dont know much about the erea . back then, population properly a lot less then it is today. and still they want to put on this golf court with no access road thru it. hmm
I remember Timberon being advertised as a new resort community when growing up in LC in the early '70s. I guess without a good paved road for access it never really caught on. My impressiion is that as a failed resort community, it became an area where you could get a cheap lot and build an inexpensive home as long as you had a truck to get you in and out.
Even with a paved road, this is a very remote area, and it's still a long haul to the nearest Walmart (that being the measure of civilization in this modern world).
thank for spelling check ! need some works on that subject
