I propose a Geronimo Day, Greatest Native American around these parts of NM. We honor him with museums and historcial sites, why not go all out and declare a holiday for him?
The Whites/Anglos have written most of the history books and have been the dominant race for centuries. Seems like that would be enough.
Exactly, the Anglos have written the history books. White America is a chiefly British construct.
A White History month would have little to say about the German-American and Irish-American experience much less the French, Norwegians, Albanians, Hungarians and myriad other 'White' peoples who have contributed to the cultural landscape of our country. That is why a 'White History Month' would be pointless.
I know a lot of Puerto Ricans, Cubans, Dominicans and even New Mexicans who already think that the Mexicans have co-opted the national view of Hispanic identity to the point of exclusion. It is the same with Europeans in America.
My point being, holidays that celebrate such broad categories as those based on pigmentation or common language make no sense. It is culture that needs recognition.
i don't see why not, but European History may be a little gentler sounding... we do have a history, after all...
and i personally am not guilty of keeping any slaves, and i'm not ashamed or sorry for my european decent, but i'm certainly not running around in white pride t-shirts or anything either.
i'm neutral on this. if i want to observe European history, i can just do that and i don't need a designated month to do so. no big deal either way IMO

I'm down with this. In what month should be celebrate Lactobacillus Acidophilus Day?

Good idea. I'm down with that! He was a superb tactician.
Geronimo! Are you joking, even his own people considered him a liar and many of them hated him. He was a weasel. No, a drunken weasel..
