It depends... and it depends. Do some research, look for jobs, check out details of the neighborhoods, etc.

Look for job, then look at places. Many of the 4 to 7,000 population towns have local hospitals.

As others have said - it depends. What size city are you looking for? What sort of income do you need. What kind of weather do you want.

As a former NJ'er myself, while I love northern NM, I did not want to live anywhere with winters that could in any way approximate what I was used to in NJ and NYC, so, I concentrated my search in the southern part of the state and settled very happily in Las Cruces.

Health care is a growing industry here due to the large number of retirees, and housing is definitely less than in New Jersey, but so is income.

As for schools, the K-12 educational system in New Mexico consistently ranks poorly, although as anywhere, there are pockets of excellent schools and dedicated educators. It wasn't a consideration for me when I moved out here, since my kids are all grown, however, I now have one of my grandchildren with me and she a freshman in high school. I have to say that I am quite satisfied with the high school she is attending.

I definitely understand the overwhelming need to get out of NJ, to be in a place where the sun shines a lot and the kids can play outside in January and February without getting soaking wet and cold

Feel free to DM me with any specific questions.

Thank u so much for that information. I heard that HP just opened up a plant in Rio Rancho; if not i am looking for an area where my rent is not always my only concern. I want to have dinners out with kids, movies, and just casual spending once in awhile. Can I survive without a spouse I mean like a comfortable struggle as oppossed to a hard struggle cause I can do comfortable doing hard now and it is so hard i am i almost dead so i need a fressh start and real school system or a half working one for them to at least get started with success. Please if u have any info that can help me it would be greatly appreciated. Thank U Again

Well, Albuquerque probably will offer the most diversity in terms of available jobs and rents. But, like someone else said, if you are in healthcare, you should look around the state at the various hospitals and see if there is a job there for you.

I think there are moderately sized hospitals in: Santa Fe (Christus St. Vincent), Las Cruces, there is the San Juan Regional Medical Center in Farmington, Silver City (Gila Regional), and I am sure there are more, just look at a map of NM and google hospitals in some of the cities that seem to be population centers for their area.

But, Albuquerque has the most large hospitals.

Since you mentioned Hewlett Packard, I am not sure if you are looking to get out of health care, in which case, I would probably recommend Albuquerque if you are arriving without a job secured, though I would recommend securing a job or having a lot of money in reserve.
