I am an environmental scientist with governmental regulatory experience in air and water quality. As well as the scientific background I have a knack for mechanics and metal work including fairly high level machining and welding. I am considering relocating to central new Mexico (Socorro) and will probably be looking for part time work after I retire.
Anyone on this board familiar with the area have any suggstions?

Thanks, Greg W
You know that sounds like something for Los Alamos. Lots of scientists there and definitely know with the nuclear stuff, they would need environmental testing. You might check into Los Alamos.
Thanks - I have looked at NMT and will probably just show up at their door some day. There are a couple of high tech firms in the area and there should be a bunch of rocketeers looking for folks in the near future.
I have been doing environmental work for a great many years and have seen it go from trying to assess actual environmental impact to just jumping through bureaucratic hoops. I plan on retiring from that and getting back to building and fixing machinery. There is way less BS involved in the latter. When you are finished the machine either works or not, if not, you are not finished.
