The Owl Bar in San Antonio and The Outpost in Carrizozo are both notable "green chile cheeseburger" places and neither one looks like it could pass a serious inspection by the health board! Of course the same could be said for MANY restaurant kitchens. I try NOT to look into them, knowing I probably would leave if I saw how the food was prepared and by whom!
Establishment was placed on immediate suspension on April 28 with a follow-up visit required. The purpose of the visit was follow-up.
Notes on the assessment report were as follows: Facility was given an immediate suspension on April 28, 2010, due to an incorrect high-risk violation from a previous inspection. As of today, there is no activity, the restaurant remains closed and owner has made no contact with the New Mexico Environmental Department regarding correction of problem or to schedule a re-inspection. Facility is unoccupied at this time.
Hog Hunt news from the southern dessert(sic, mine). Last week a cattle drive displaced 32 counted pigs. Hogs ran waay out in front in mostly disconnected small herds. One 22-250 (a Weatherby in a plastic stock w/4~12 scope)got 8 hogs using 40 and 55 grainer's (so much for needing heavy caliber bullets). The regular access roads are awful due to exploratory well drilling in advance of anticipated rulings. Saw 4 rigs working. Went initially to n.w. side of S. Blanca and saw a few hog used areas(about same as 9 years ago on last visit). Spoke w/some other hog hunters from E. desert who'd come looking also. Hiked about 3 miles but 9000" altitude kicked my keister. Saw two bunches of turkeys and one bull Elk, but in the heavy cover (and no turkey license)no shots. I think the hogs in heavy cover either need to have dogs after them or a sharper and more agile hog chaser than myself. Hunting on Sierra Blanca reminded me of Cookson Hills in Oklahoma. H. Wold, you were in the area of hogs same time as we were, did you see any? 1903a3
