I expect some pretty awful electric bills during the summer months, since my A/C is always running. My question is, do you notice that the bills even themselves out throughout the year due to mild winters and make the overall cost about average? I'm used to Missouri where the spring and fall give you a few months of relief, where you can just open the windows and/or not run the heat or A/C much at all.

Our electric bill runs around $150 per month. We have 2600sf living area with total electric.

I replaced my windows last year and replaced the weather striping on my exterior doors. Before I replaced them my bill would round between $300 and $400 a month.

What do you have the AC set at?
Have you had someone come and check the AC?

I try to keep it at 73/74ish. I didn't mean to imply "always running" as in non-stop. I just meant normal summertime heavy usage. No more than anywhere else I've been.

300-400...ouch!

Our heat bill didn't drop much last year due to the deep freezes/cold winter we had. Definitely not a mild winter last year. We'd keep the heat on 67 and it would run 3-4 times an hour. We keep it at 74 right now and it's running 4-5 times an hour. We've been running $250/mo in the summer and $150/mo in the winter. 1700 sq ft. We do need some windows replaced, though. I'm sure that would work miracles.
