If you're Uptown, check out Plum Street Snowball at Plum and Burdette streets. They were featured on the Food Network, and have a wide variety of great tasting snowballs for a good price.

What are snowballs? The only ones I've ever heard of are the Hostess Cakes with coconut on the outside, and I can't stand them. I'm totally with Woody Harrelson in "Zombieland"...it's not the taste, it's the consistency". LMAO

The rest of the country calls them snow cones too . They do things a little different in New Orleans lol.

I had Snowball CAKES for breakfast this morning actually....coconut is my favorite flavor, scent, etc.

The ice in a snow-cone is different from the ice in a snow-ball and the syrups aren't as high fructose/corn syrupy either. Many of the flavors are actually made from scratch by the people who run the stand. I remember having a "Snow-Cone" for the first time and thinking WTH after tasting it.

Well, well, well, looks like a lot of good suggestions since I fell off the world around here. Tygress,
you ought to have a full itinerary from all that stuff. I can agree with most of that. Since you are
likely to be on the St. Charles Streetcar Line at some point, I could agree with Commander's Palace
provided you try and secure a reservation now before you leave. Other than that drop in at
Galatoire's on Bourbon. I also like to browse the galleries on Royal St in the quarter. There used to
be a LOT of eclectic stores at the downriver end of the French Market, as well as some similar
tables in the 'bazaar' at the same end of the FM. Nowadays it is a lot less funky, which is a real
shame. There used to be a store called Boomerang that was my favorite clothing store of all time
back in the olden days. But there are still a few well worth browsing through. All in the general area
of the old US Mint within a half a bloc radius of the Esplanade Ave/Decatur intersection. And you
sho-nuff better find yourself a snowball stand. There are 'gourmet' ones as stated, but there are a
few hundred hole-in-th-wall stands set up this time of year that all basically sell the same product.
NOTHING knocks out the NO hot like a large nectar snowball. Dammit, I need to meet you down there.
I would kill for a tourist week in the city. I just finished up in the Smokies which was warm enough.
It'd be tough to make the trip you are making, for me anyway.

Awwww Brad...You have been so helpful these past 2 months with so much information for me. I love your posts...they get me so excited because I can hear the excitement and wimsy in your voice as you type them. I can tell you just LOVE NOLA. You have great ideas / suggestions.

My husband and I went to the Smokies for our honeymoon 3 years ago...stayed in a little cabin about 1/2-way between Sylva and Franklin in NC. It was AMAZING. I want to go back there~!
