Could be a popular draw for the film industry if left as is.

Comments from a guy on NOLA.com about the former Six Flags Land;

"Disney wanted that land a looonngg time ago, government greed ran them away.
They should just doze it and turn it into a Casino District..

It has the potential to be a bigger draw than an amusement park, IMO. However, they would really have to invest in the manpower to keep guests safe - security, police, etc. I think it could have the potential to be full of criminal activity if it's not run properly and protected with adequate law enforcement. I think it's a good idea when it's on the drawing board, but it needs to be thought out further to avoid it being a bad thing. The people of NO East really don't need something that's going to draw more crime.

Well I don't know about other people's opinions but I'm not commenting in regards to the people who attended. I just remember as a kid (before I could drive) taking an RTA bus from Uptown and it taking like 2 hours and the landscape all around the park was just awful.. all the hooker motels on Chef, rusty metal buildings- its just really the pits out there. The people who attended were from all over the city really. People weren't the problem, it was the location, IMO

I am glad I found this thread. I have ALWAYS been into creepy places and abandoned places.

I just thought about this park yesterday and looked it up and have been fascinated. I saw that movie that a user posted and it just makes me want to go so bad. I love the eerie feeling of an a place that was once filled with laughter and joy.....now dead.

Anyone live by it? Is it still standing? Is it creepy? I wish I could go but I live in Michigan and it would be a 17 hour drive. (Yes I checked)

If anyone has any extra pictures, that'd be awesome. I don't know why I am obsessed. :-P

Honestly there's nothing really near the park. The closest neighborhoods to the park includes one that is gated and has a golf course in it and other middle to upper middle class neighborhoods. The stretch of Chef between the I-10 and I-510 is not much different from the stretch if Airline from I-310 to the I-10, just as the stretch of I-10 through The East is similar to the stretch through Metairie minus the walls.

Well I just remember the bus ride being very depressing!! Might have my bearings off a little about what is what.. I also remember taking the wrong bus once and having to walk up I-510, sprinting across interstate lanes and muddying my shoes in the swampy grass median in 95+ degree heat. Not too fun.
