I have two boys and will be moving to NO early next year. Not sure where we will live but would like to live in the city (wharehouse dist, magazine street, downtown), basically not in the suburbs. Are there good public elementary schools in these areas or will I need to go the private school route. Thanks

You can go the charter school route but there are deadlines for applying, as there are for private, and some criteria to meet. Also, many are over-subscribed, to use that term loosely, and getting in is not a sure thing. All private schools test for academics before admission. Catholic schools didn't use to test, not sure about now.
